The colors of LEDs are based on the three primary colors of light, which combine to produce white.
By blending these three native LED colors, the display reproduces hues that are closest to natural tones.
White balance refers to the precise white point located at chromaticity coordinates x = 3.1 and y = 3.1 on the CIE diagram. This point serves as the “white center” reference. An LED chip’s ability to accurately reproduce this reference white determines overall color uniformity; if the white balance is off, color distortion will occur. In low-cost LEDs whose white balance is not properly calibrated, color reproduction is prone to the kinds of distortions illustrated below.
